Vizion
The vision of ZAREDARTE is grounded in the conviction that art encompasses an aesthetic dimension, a formative one, as well as a communal one. Through its creations, the company seeks to bring forth the beauty of the Byzantine tradition and integrate it into the contemporary space, so that the artistic image becomes a support for reflection, interiorization, and a closer approach to spiritual values. Regardless of the technique employed, the works are conceived as visual expressions intended to support the development of inner life, to promote peace, and to strengthen social harmony.
From this perspective, ZAREDARTE embraces the mission of offering communities and institutions artistic projects that enhance spaces and create a framework conducive to communion, dialogue, and balance between tradition and the present. Through attention to detail, respect for established techniques, and an openness to the current needs of society, the company aims to contribute to the creation of a cultural and spiritual environment in which art serves as a bridge between the inner beauty of the individual and the harmony of the community.
History
ZAREDARTE SRL grounds its activity on the conviction that sacred art emerges from the encounter between artistic expression and theological reflection, where tradition and the present complement one another. The company’s practice has gradually developed in a direction that values dialogue with theologians, clergy, art historians, and community leaders, to construct an authentic iconographic language adapted to current needs.
A key milestone in this trajectory was the collaboration with the University of Fribourg, which began in 2010. The projects carried out there—the mural painting The History of the Salvation of Humankind on the façade of the Walter Nigg Library, the iconostasis of the Orthodox Students’ Chapel, and icons dedicated to academic and diplomatic events—demonstrated the potential of integrating the Byzantine tradition into an international context.
The same openness was evident in projects organized together with SLEC – the Society for the Law of Eastern Churches. The iconographic workshop held in Cluj-Napoca in 2019, on the occasion of the Jubilee Fifty Years of Encounters between Eastern Churches, resulted in works presented to Pope Francis and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I. The collaboration continued in 2022, at the International Congress in Belgrade, through the creation of icons with symbolic and ecumenical value.
At the national level, ZAREDARTE has carried out projects in churches and chapels in Cluj and its surroundings, in collaboration with the Metropolis of Cluj, Maramureș, and Sălaj, as well as with the Diocese of Maramureș and Sătmar. Furthermore, partnerships with the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Cluj-Napoca have supported cultural and editorial initiatives such as Beyond the Walls and Orthodoxy, aimed at fostering dialogue between art, spirituality, and community.
Through each collaboration, ZAREDARTE has thus strengthened its identity as an active actor in the field of sacred art, putting forward a vision that combines the Byzantine tradition, technical rigor, and contemporary sensitivity in an artistic language open to the community.
